MAKE SENSE OF THE NUMBERS

What the readings mean

Four readings offer different views of the air at the station.

Carbon monoxide response

Shows how strongly the monitor responds to carbon monoxide. It is a sensor response, rather than a measured gas concentration.

Air sensor response

Helps reveal changes in the air’s composition. A higher number means a stronger response, rather than identifying one pollutant.

Combustible gas response

Shows the monitor’s response to gases such as LPG. It cannot confirm which gas is present or how much there is.

Fine particles · PM2.5

Measures the concentration of tiny particles in micrograms per cubic metre. A higher number means more fine particles in that reading.

“Within reference” means a reading is at or below the station’s first reference level. “Elevated” and “High” mark readings above its first and second reference levels. Older, missing, or unverified readings cannot describe the air right now.

How readings are measured

Technical details and the station’s configured reference levels are shown below. The gas readings use raw sensor counts and have not been converted into gas concentrations. The reference colors are not an official AQI classification.

A missing reading remains unavailable. A recorded PM2.5 zero is unverified because the station may also report zero when a particle reading fails.
